5th Meeting of the AAOIFI Education Board concludes

The Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) conducted the fifth meeting of its AAOIFI Education Board (AEB) on 22 September 2020 through online conferencing system.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Mughees Shaukat, Deputy Chairman of the AEB. Key decisions were made involving the approvals of charters / terms of references, the call for constitution of sub-committees, establishment of another sub-committee for the translation activities of the AAOIFI fellowship programs, as well as the announcement of names approved as per the Direct Fellowship Scheme. A detailed discussion on the modus operandi of the Global Fellows Forum (GFF) also took place which will continue to the next meeting.

The AEB has established four sub-committees which include: the Curriculum Review Committee (CRC), the Examinations Review Committee (ERC), the GFF, and the Translations Review Committee (TRC). The AAOIFI secretariat shall, in the coming days, invite industry stakeholders, and particularly, the AAOIFI fellows, to commence the nomination process for constitution of the respective committees.

In the meeting, the AEB reviewed the names shortlisted for Fast-Track fellowship of the Certified Islamic Professional Accountant (CIPA) program. Earlier, the AEB had shortlisted the names for the Honorary fellowship which was later ratified by the AAOIFI Board of Trustees. The final and approved list of Honorary and Fast-Track fellows is published on the AAOIFI website.
