Practical Experience Requirement (PER)
What is PER? | Internship program for a duration of 1 year at a pre-approved IFI under an external supervisor |
Objective of PER | To develop the candidate’s real-world understanding of and implementation skills in AAOIFI Shari’ah standards, as well as we, accounting, auditing, governance and ethics at IFIs |
Eligibility Criteria | All registered CSE candidates may start their PER after program registration |

Deliverable(s) | Candidates are required to submit monthly reports of their PER related work to AAOIFI, and then a final report at the end of the year |
Passing criteria | Earn a ‘pass’ grade on the final report |
Alternative to PER | Offered only on case-to-case basis where exceptional circumstances exist. As an alternative to PER, candidates may be allowed to submit 2 research papers on Islamic finance accountancy of up to or between 5000 – 7000 words on pre-approved topics. |
