AAOIFI Board of Trustees Approved Resignation of the Secretary General

H.E. Shaikh Ebrahim Bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) has announced that Dr. Hamed H. Merah, the Secretary General of AAOIFI, has left the organization with immediate effect. He announced the same after the BOT in its meeting held on 10 January 2018, approved the resignation submitted by the outgoing Secretary General, and acceded to his request for immediate release.

At this occasion, H.E. Shaikh Ebrahim said that “On behalf of BOT I would like to thank Dr Hamed for his services and efforts over the past three years. We also wish him luck for his future endeavours”.

He further mentioned that AAOIFI has developed itself as an institution over a period of 27 years of its existence and we have a very strong and able team at the Secretariat level. It has a robust and well-structured mechanism of development of its standards by its three technical boards and multiple sub-committees and working groups, being an elite set of scholars and experts. In the transitional period, the Secretariat’s team, under the able guidance of the Executive Committee of BOT, will ensure that the standards development and dissemination process along with other routine functions of AAOIFI shall continue without any impediments.

He also announced that the BOT’s Executive Committee will shortly commence the process of nominations, selection and appointment of the new Secretary General.
