AAOIFI receives the GIFA 2020 award

The Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) is pleased to receive the Global Islamic Finance Award (GIFA) at a prestigious event held in Islamabad, the capital of Islamic Republic of Pakistan on 14th September 2020. AAOIFI received the GIFA Championship Award 2020 in the category of Shari’a and Islamic Financial Regualtions.

GIFA 2020 award was presented to AAOIFI by H.E. Dr. Arif Alvi, the President of Pakistan who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and was received by Dr. Rizwan Malik, Senior Manager, Standards Implementation and Strategic Developments. Other notable guests included the Governor of State Bank of Pakistan, CEOs and Chairmen of banks and financial institutions as well as senior representatives from the government of Pakistan.

GIFA organised annually in different parts of the world celebrate the achievements of individuals, institutions and governments in promoting and advocating Islamic banking and finance. Winners are selected based on a proprietary methodology based on innovation, breadth and depth and cross-border reach of products and services, as well as commitment to the promotion of growth of the Islamic banking and finance industry.

Mr. Omar Mustafa Ansari, Secretary General of AAOIFI, said “AAOIFI is pleased to be selected once again for the very prestigious and industry-leading GIFA Championship Award in the category of Shari’ah and Islamic Financial Regulation. Additionally, Dr. Rizwan Malik also received an award in the cateogry of Upcoming Personality in Global Islamic Finance Advocacy and Standardization 2020 who commented “It is encouraging to see how GIFA has progressed over the years and has celebrated the achievements of leaders and practitioners alike globally. I am thrilled to receive the GIFA award and pleased to see my humble contribution within the industry being recognized.
