As part of this commitment, we have launched this initiative to better understand the practical challenges faced by Islamic financial institutions (IFIs) across jurisdictions. This questionnaire has been designed to gather practical, evidence-based insights on the application of AAOIFI Shari’ah Standard (SS) 8 “Murabahah” across diverse jurisdictions and seeks your valuable insights and experiences. Your input will help us address real-world implementation concerns and ensure that future guidance remains both effective and responsive to the evolving needs of the industry.

Objective of the survey

The primary objectives of this survey are to:

1. assess the current level of application of AAOIFI Shari’ah Standard (SS) 8 “Murabahah” within IFIs;
2. identify operational, regulatory or interpretational challenges encountered during implementation;
3. collect feedback on areas where further clarification, guidance or standard refinement may be required; and
4. support the development of practical recommendations and tools to strengthen Shari’ah compliance and operational efficiency.

Survey guidelines

Kindly consider the following specific guidelines while providing your response:

1. ensure that your responses accurately reflect your jurisdiction’s adoption of AAOIFI Shari’ah Standard (SS) 8 “Murabahah” and the related practices of Islamic financial institutions operating therein; and
2. If a question allows multiple responses, you may provide specific details in the “others” option space.
